When your body sleeps, how does dreaming work for y'all?
  • Do you dream of each other?
  • Can you interrupt each others' dreams?
  • Do you all dream, or can only one of you dream at a time (or at all)?
  • Other things we aren't thinking to ask related to dreams that y'all want to talk about? We're all ears!

communication

jolik: how do you tend to communicate with each other? maybe you leave notes around your room, maybe you beam emotions to each other, maybe you message each other over a chat program, maybe you do something else...?

bonus optional related questions if you want more questions:
- have you ever tried other methods of communication? did they work for you?
- do different headmates use different methods of communication? has this ever caused any issues or problems?
- have your main method(s) of communication ever stopped working (either temporarily or permanently)? how did you communicate in the meantime?

This is something I've been dealing with for a while, so I'm sending it out for peer advice - how do you get motivated to front while building a selfhood, like opinions and interests and things you enjoy for recreation or other reasons to use your body, rather than habitually being a backseat driver?

It's frustrating to be a person, to know you're a person, but just not have a lot of reasons to be yourself in front of other people. I've likened it to depression before, because it feels fairly similar in the "lacking interest in daily activities" field, except you don't really have pre-existing hobbies to feel uninterested in. I've been around in our daily life before, but it's usually for the typical daily grind or talking to friends about something. I do like a good podcast, but again, I usually don't feel up to fronting and sharing my thoughts on them, and the less that I front to have opinions on something, the fewer opinions I'll have, it's a whole vicious cycle of inactivity.

If anyone else has dealt with this, sorry to hear it! Here's hoping we can crowdsource some ideas for Wanting To Exist More!

This is a complex of several questions: how do you switch, what does switching feel like (physically and mentally), does it differ between different members, and how would you describe your process of switching in your own words?

While We only accepted Our plurality a few years ago, We've definitely had ongoing plural experiences since We were a toddler.

Our earliest plural memories are of becoming other people (mostly Our one friend—factives represent!) sometimes, and of autonomous imaginary friends (one of whom is still around as Aspen).

What are y'all's earliest memories of being plural? If you became plural more recently, I'd still like to hear!

What are some habits, tricks, and tools, that help you live with each other? What supports you in your daily life?

Do you keep a journal or calendar? Do you always check inside after switching (if you notice)? Do you use envelope budgeting for spending money? Do you have daily or weekly meetings? Etc.

Big System Changes

How do you all approach and work through big system changes?

And, if comfortable sharing, what are some big changes your system has gone through, and what was your experience working through them?

What is it like for you to not be in control of your body, if anything?

Do you still have a subjective experience of yourself while in the back? If so, what is that like? Do you go anywhere inside, or are you present in a different way (e.g. watching your body move without you)? Is your self-experience noticeably different from when you are in front?

Do you stop having experiences at all (like being unconscious)? If so, what is it like to come back to front? Do you have the sensation of having been away at all? How do the others experience you being away?

Do you fall somewhere in-between? Is someone else experiencing you for you? Do you hang around, but without having the same sense of "I"? Does it vary too much to pin it down? Do you understand it in another way?

Sometimes folks are reluctant to ask the questions that need to be asked.

What questions do you wish more people would ask you? Why those questions? What are your answers?

Memory Problems

Do you struggle to remember outerworld happenings, experience time blindness, forget skills, or have other memory problems? How do said problems interact with your plurality, if at all? (For example: forgetting tasks when switching, new headmates not knowing outerworld life info, and so on.) How do you manage those problems?

(They don't necessarily have to be caused by a dissociative disorder - memory problems from ADHD or that just don't have an identifiable source are relevant here, too.)

Our host count is kinda complicated.

Our total count is 9. However, only 4 can be considered main or primary hosts, while three of the others are hosts of subsystems or Solar’s sidesystem, and the other two are are the hosts of our sidesystems. The last four are all hosts in the main system, so we tend to front more than any of the others.

Also, bonus question because I’m curious: Do other systems have hosts who are also caretakers? Asking because three of us have both roles (me being one of them) and I’m just curious how common it is for these two roles to be found together.

Cores/Originals

Sparked by a post on Tumblr: do or did you at one point have a core/original?

If yes, how do you define core/original, and what are or were your experiences having one?

If you had one and no longer have one, what changed, if you're comfortable sharing?

If you've never had one, how is your system organized instead?

Let's get this community talking!

Tell us about yourselves. What are your lived experiences with plurality? How do you understand yourselves?

If you're still figuring this all out (as we all are), then what do you know so far about your own experiences? What do you want to know?

Comments and posts responding to this prompt are both welcomed, though comments keep this question's answers easier to find (consider linking back to this post if you answer in your own post- it makes it easier to track!).
